  1. Empowering Rural Ohio: Award-Winning Toolkit Guides Health Care Decisions

    When the first COVID-19 vaccine became available in late 2020, public conversation around immunization surged to unprecedented levels. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by rural communities—particularly the health risks tied to low vaccination rates—the Ohio State University Extension team sprang into action. Backed by a grant from the Extension Foundation, with funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), the team developed the Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching and Engagement (EXCITE) vaccine toolkit to support informed decision-making and improve community health outcomes.     A newly developed vaccine toolkit aimed at empowering rural and communities who would benefit from support with accurate vaccine information launched Thursday, September 12. The resource includes easy-to-understand materials such as infographics, pamphlets, and videos covering seasonal vaccines, age-specific needs, and guidance for at-risk groups such as those with diabetes.   3. FCS 2022 Generation Rx Summer Programs

    The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy’s Generation Rx Team has granted 13 OSU Extension Ambassadors to implement the components of the Generation Rx Older Adult Toolkit (for individuals age 55+) throughout Ohio continuing until September 2022. This opportunity was made possible through grant funding from Ohio Mental Health & Addiction Services.
