Federal Agencies/Organizations

  • Raising young childrenThe The Adminstration on Aging (AOA) is the principal agency of the U.S Department of Health and Human Services designated to carry out the provisions of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (OAA), as amended (42 U.S.C.A. § 3001 et seq.). The OAA promotes the well-being of older individuals by providing services and programs designed to help them live independently in their homes and communities. The Act also empowers the federal government to distribute funds to the states for supportive services for individuals over the age of 60.
  • The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a respected national leader and trusted partner helping older adults meet the challenges of aging through services like BenefitsCheckUp BenefitsCheckUp®. BenefitsCheckUp® is a comprehensive, free online tool that connects older adults with benefits they may qualify for.

  • Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
  • The National Center on Elder Abuse provides the latest information regarding research, training, best practices, news and resources on elder abuse, neglect and exploitation to professionals and the public. First established by the U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) in 1988 as a national elder abuse resource center, the NCEA was granted a permanent home at AoA in the 1992 amendments made to Title II of the Older Americans Act.

  • The National Council on Aging is a respected national leader and trusted partner to help people aged 60+ meet the challenges of aging. We partner with nonprofit organizations, government, and business to provide innovative community programs and services, online help, and advocacy.

  • National Institute on Aging
  • The National Institutes of Health seeks fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability.

  • Social Security Administration
  • The Senate Special Committee on Aging was first established in 1961 as a temporary committee. It was granted permanent status on February 1, 1977. While special committees have no legislative authority, they can study issues, conduct oversight of programs, and investigate reports of fraud and waste.Throughout its existence, the Special Committee on Aging has served as a focal point in the Senate for discussion and debate on matters relating to older Americans. Often, the Committee will submit its findings and recommendations for legislation to the Senate. In addition, the Committee publishes materials of assistance to those interested in public policies which relate to the elderly.

  • U.S. Department of Health & Human Services
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Alzheimer’s Disease and Healthy Aging Program (AD+HAP) develops evidence-based, scientific information to educate, inform, and assist in translating its research into public health practice.

State Agencies/Organizations

  • The Ohio Department of Aging administers programs and services to meet the needs of older Ohioans. These programs are funded by the federal Older Americans Act, Medicaid, and other sources.
  • Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ohio Living, is one of Ohio’s premier providers of home health and hospice services, recognized for quality, innovation, and a positive work environment. Statewide, Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice provides services to more than 67,000 adults annually and operates two adult day centers. Ohio Living’s services range from a variety of housing options in one of our life plan communities through the full range of care and post-acute home health and hospice support for adults, wherever they live.
