Shannon Carter, an assistant professor and area leader for Family and Consumer Sciences, has been honored with the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences’ Distinguished Extension Professional Award.
Carter, who is dedicated to helping others live smart by using research-based information to improve lives, families, and communities, received the award during an April CFAES event. As an area leader, she takes pride in supporting staff to achieve their aspirations and goals. Her most significant contribution to OSU Extension has been her ability to bring out the best in others. Personally, she and her husband have raised two wonderful children into remarkable young adults. Carter is proud to be part of the nationwide network of Extension professionals who strive to provide their audiences with the knowledge and resources needed to thrive.
Carter holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in family relations and human development from Ohio State and is a third-generation OSU Extension educator in Family and Consumer Sciences, and works in Fairfield County.
