According to the Ohio Department of Health, approximately 1,048,918 adults in Ohio, or 12.6% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Every year, an estimated 54,400 adults in Ohio are diagnosed with diabetes.
Diabetes is the eighth leading cause of death in Ohio. In addition, over 920,000 Ohio adults (10.2%) had been diagnosed with prediabetes (Source: 2020 Ohio BRFSS), increasing their risk of progressing to Type 2 diabetes later in life.
