OSU Extension Receives Grant from Cardinal Health Foundation to Help Fight Opioid Epidemic in Lake County

Ohio State University Extension Lake County received funding from the Cardinal Health Foundation’s Generation Rx Prescription Drug Misuse Prevention Education for Youth grant program. “This grant will support our efforts to train dedicated school and extra-curricular youth leaders in the Health and Opiate-Abuse Prevention Education (HOPE) curriculum and building youth protective factors as a prevention effort in medication and opiate misuse that often leads to heroin use,” said Sandra Allison, OSU Extension educator. The program will educate 500 to 1,000 Lake County children and youth in prescription drug misuse prevention education this year. This grant is just one of the many educational programs offered by Ohio State University Lake County Extension both to better family life for Lake County residents and address the opiate epidemic. “We are committed to meet the needs of Lake County residents,” said Lake County Extension Director, Lisa Siciliano Miller.
