Youth Program

Young girl holding homemade cookieYoung girl at door with backpackThe youth program is offered to children in 11 counties. Children learn about nutrition, food preparation, food safety, and physical activity during a seven lesson, interactive program. The youth program is administered through schools, youth organizations, after-school programs, and many other places and events where children gather.

EFNEP emphasizes nine-month classes taught through the school systems. EFNEP also partners with the Ohio Summer Food Service Program to provide nutrition education to youth who receive free meals throughout the summer at identified sites.

Youth are asked to complete a short, age specific survey at the first and last lesson of the series. Curriculum for Ohio EFNEP youth is derived from MyPlate model and is evidence-based to promote a healthy lifestyle for youth.
