The focus of my work has been Health Promotion and Disease Prevention for low income audiences. My interests include working with low income audiences to prevent and/or diminish lifestyle risk factors associated with poor health. At this moment we are achieving this through encouraging healthy behaviors related to diet intake and physical activity. Next steps will include finding better ways to communicate our message to low literacy and low income audiences, so that they will be able to care for it and will internalize it as part of their life. I am also interested in developing accurate instruments to evaluate their behavior change. Much of my work has been with Latino audiences.
