Consumer Sciences Extension Activities 2008

New Start for Financial Success

This is an educational program for bankruptcy filers. New Start for Financial Success fulfills filers' requirement for pre-discharge financial education, a mandatory requirement since October 2006. The required 2-hour classes on financial management are currently offered in 45 counties in Ohio and since October 2006 more than 700 individuals have participated in the workshops. Additional counties will be recruited to offer the program, a revised evaluation tool will examine planned behavior changes and a profile of participants, and expanded marketing will include an updated website for consumers.
